Details

  • Use the “Workout Locations” tab at F3HolyCity to view the current AO schedule and plan your route.
  • After completing each workout, track it on the Electronic Data-Tracking Page (EDTP):
  • Compete for the TdC shovel flag: Have the highest point total on Labor Day (or in the event of more than one PAX with max points, earn your points the fastest).
  • Visit each AO and complete each established workout in F3Charleston during the TdC window to join the Ring of Fire!
  • F3 Tour de Charleston on Slack (TdC related mumblechatter and smack talk):
  • Q’s plan your workout with safe distancing in mind. Throughout the workout, remind PAX to spread out if you see otherwise. Do your best to keep PAX distanced so they are not breathing on each other.
  • Q’s consider limited or no use of blocks, etc., and especially do not plan for sharing of blocks during a workout.
  • Pax, help the Q. Do your part to keep distanced (6 feet). Choose to modify if blocks are used and you are not comfortable with that.
  • To help the AO prepare (ie, so a Q is not surprised by giant turn out), limit the number of PAX you plan to travel with to 6 or fewer. If your AO has more PAX than that doing the Tour, split into groups and plan to go to different AO’s. (If this is not possible due to limited workouts available on a given day, let the AOQ and others from that AO know they can expect large numbers. That will allow them to plan for multiple Q’s in smaller groups.)
  • There are differing opinions currently on close contact. Instead of debating who is right or wrong, during the Tour, we are asking that everyone stay in a spaced circle and take a knee for the COT. This is for reverence and respect for each other and the God we pray to or the higher power one acknowledges.

Update July 10th, 2020

From Sunday, July 12th, through Wednesday, July 15th, please do not enter any Tour stops on the EDTP (Electronic Data-Tracking Page). You may not accumulate points on these days. Use  these days for recovery, but also as an opportunity to visit your home AO, regroup, and discuss plans going forward.

The 2020 Tour was designed to spread out the numbers and allow for easier spacing between PAX during workouts.  The reason, of course, was so that we could still have a Tour this year while doing our best to stay within the health and safety guidelines and ordinances issued by our health organizations and government at all levels.  The 2020 Tour Rules establish more clear expectations to help us achieve this goal.

The Full Story (Version for English and History Buffs)

The 4th annual F3Tour de Charleston is just around the corner now!  In keeping with the original spirit of the TdC – which was to encourage PAX to branch out, visit other AO’s, and form new bonds – this year’s format will crown a champion while also providing motivation to all PAX to visit every AO in F3Charleston between July 1st and Labor Day (September 7th).  The goal, you ask?  To become a member of the TdC “Ring of Fire!”

Thanks to TdC committee stalwart Tugga, this year’s Tour features the most incredible Electronic Data-Tracking Page (EDTP) in history!  Access it here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10o_R23cQ7PmncLn8FmMsVImUl6JRYo09MtwCBwLHRIo/edit?usp=sharing;   It includes (1) every AO, (2) all regularly scheduled extra-credit runs/bootcamps, AND (3) a few bonus points for mini-CSAUP’s.  And why, you might ask, is the EDTP so important this year?  Because each PAX is responsible for planning his own route (see below) and then tracking his Tour record on the EDTP after each workout is achieved.  The EDTP also has a few built-in explanations of the bonus workouts and how to use them to maximize your points…for example, just click where Tugga directs you on the EDTP, and you can learn what TheSMIdge Decision is.  Spoiler Alert: it is 6 points, 3 BC’s, and a 10k run in just over 24 hours, plus you check off 3 AO’s in that same short amount of time! (Thanks for the idea, Tinker.)

*Note: If you are using your phone and the EDTP does not seem fully functional, please try from a computer before sounding the IT alarm.)

If you are interested in racing for the TdC champion’s shovel flag, you will also need to engage in some careful route planning.  That’s right, PAX will use the “Workout Locations” tab at F3HolyCity (https://f3holycity.com/workout-locations/) to view the current AO schedule and plan the most expeditious route to attack the Tour.  The first PAX to earn max points, OR the highest point total on September 7th,  wins!  Max points include all AO’s plus all extra credit and bonus points.  The wild card in all of this is that the next opportunity to workout at The Edge on Folly Beach isn’t until September 7th.  That means that if two or more PAX have max points going into Labor Day, and one posts at The Edge but the other doesn’t, the one who posts wins! If both post, then the PAX who was first to reach the max available points preceding The Edge is crowned champion.

Clear as mud? To simplify: start posting on July 1st, and if you are competing to win it all, post every day until you have checked off every box on the EDTP!

So what if I’m going to be out-of-town for awhile or can’t post due to work, and I don’t think I’ll be in the running for the yellow jersey/shovel flag?  No worries!  This year’s Tour introduces the Ring of Fire, and it’s a goal every PAX can achieve.  To become a member of the Ring of Fire, visit each AO and complete each established workout in F3Charleston between July 1st and September 7th. (Again, use the “Workout Locations” tab at F3HolyCity to view the current AO schedule and plan your route.)  Tugga’s amazing EDTP shows a fire emoji (no, seriously) beside each AO and established workout, so as long as you do the work to check off each fire emoji column, you are in the Ring of Fire!  And yes, it has it’s own theme song – of course you’re singing it now!

(*Note: The Ring of Fire graciously excludes the Bad Decision, TheSMIdge, and TheSMIdge Decision since they are bonuses and not found on our regular F3 schedule.  That said, you will want those points if you plan to run with the horses at the top.  Finally, these bonuses constitute mini-CSAUP’s; thus, they’re stupid and they hurt, which is often how we prove how badass we are.  Get some!)
