Book = The Oz Principle
The book is about individual and organizational capability. Mentions society suffers from culture of victimization where it is believed circumstances and other people are what prevent us from success. Claims there is a thin line that separates success from failure. Success lies “above the line”, which is dominated by accountability. That is where when faced with an obstacle or goal, successful people see it, own it, solve it, and do it. Failure lies “below the line”, which is dominated by blame. This is where people ignore the issue, finger point, wait to be told what to do, and look to cover their tail. The challenge for each of us is to be aware when we fall below the line, which we will, and quickly take the steps needed to get above the line where we can best control the outcome.
