The Thang:
Headed to the track and paired up
Bear Crawl/Run – As one man bear crawled, the other ran a lap around the track. We did this for one full lap of bear crawls
Lunges/Run – Rinse and repeat the above, only substituting Lunges for Bear Crawls
Walked to the Straightaway for an 80-yard sprint
Rest/Walk for x few yards and then backward ran to the bleachers
Ran all of the bleacher steps and moseyed back to the straightway
Rinse and repeated the sprint/bleacher series and moseyed back to the flag
Rapid Fire Closeout – 3 sets of fast SSH x 10IC and 10SC Merkins

The discussion was about the quote from CS Lewis:
“We must lay before him what is in us; not what ought to be in us.”
I took this quote as meaning that instead of contemplating what we should be doing or what we should be, it’s better for us to look inward and identify our shadow-self, and lay this out there for God. Our shadow self is what most people don’t see us as. It’s the underbelly of our personality. Our shadow personality is like the bear crawls we were doing a few minutes ago, sweaty, in pain, slowly slogging along while what we present to others and as most people see us, the runner, is out making the rounds. The shadow self is typically what gets presented at times when we are only with the ones we love and our guard is down.
My main point in this discussion is the call to embrace your shadow self and get to know him better. The better you know him the better you will become at understanding why he shows up giving you more power to control the circumstances leading up to that point.
